Afrobeats artiste; Young Qing dropped his latest single “Omo”, this Friday.

Peter Chukwuebuka Obianwu, known professionally as Young Qing, is a Nigerian recording artist, performer, and entertainer whose musical style is a perfect blend of R&B, hip-hop/Rap, and Afropop.

Young Qing was born and bred in Lagos State, Nigeria, but hails originally from Onitsha, Anambra State.

As a freshly emerging artist, his art is a combination of life and music intertwined, often reflecting his diverse influences and a celebration of life's intricacies.

Last Friday, he released a new track;  “Omo”, a song that’s a little nostalgic, largely sentimental, and powerfully relatable.

He begins the track with ransacking the deep and existential struggles of living and surviving as a Nigerian youth. The problems faced with trying to build something and striving for an honest lifestyle. He touches on police brutality, how hastily they wrongfully profile one, and struggle to believe in the innocence of one’s success. He expresses the pain of pleading and explaining your innocence.

But beyond that, the artist sings solemnly about how oddly life changes, the excesses of adulthood, and how simple things like company, spending time with your friends are overshadowed by the hustle, a need to grow and succeed.

“Omo” is more than a song, but a deeply relatable, collective reality woven into words and sound. Out now on all streaming platforms, make sure to check out this one!
