Fast-rising Afrobeats artiste, Laolu, prepares to drop his latest single, "If I Could".

There's a new, soulful Afrobeats artist on the rise, named Laolu, and he's set to release his new single, "If I Could" —a vibrant, feel-good love song that’s bound to make his listeners fall deeply in love.

“If I Could” carries the infectious energy of Afropop into an Afro-R&B stage, and the result is something tender and sweet, filled with genuine, heartfelt emotion. The song is a celebration of that one person who makes everything feel electric.

With playful lyricism, rich cultural references, and Saajo’s warm Afropop production, “If I Could” showcases Laolu at his most expressive — romantic, confident, and full of life.

Switching fluidly between English, Yoruba, and Pidgin, Laolu paints a vivid picture of devotion. As he sings in the softest tones, “If I could, I’d give you the world if I could”, you get to feel the intention and earnestness burning behind those words. He keeps that hook simple and soaring, displaying a kind of love that feels personal yet universal.

In a gentle yet intentionally stylish way, his vocals come out nearly muffled, like it softly rests in the crevice of the beautiful rhythm. And like butter on bread, the vocals keep you locked in the sweetness of the lyrics, while the beat keeps you vibing along.

Born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria, Laolu is a pharmacy student at the University of Lagos (Unilag) who has channelled his love for music into a career that is only just beginning. Hissound draws deeply from his Lagos roots — blending the rich sonic traditions of Afrobeats with modern production and multilingual storytelling that reflects the city’s energy and spirit.

With “If I Could", Laolu is making his intention clear: he is here to stay, and he is choosing music daily. Soon to be out on all streaming platforms, watch out for Laolu’s sweet music, “If I Could”
