Monthly music playlists: Love in April
I know you see the title, and it's probably leaving you a little confused, because, I mean love and April aren't really two things you’d see together. Maybe in February or at least December. But April? Kilo kan A pelu Z?

Well, I get it, but this inspiration came from a rather random source.
So my pastor has this annual, April propaganda jingle he starts rolling out the moment the calendar even thinks about turning—“April, the best month to marry! April, the best month to give birth!” …very passionate, very convincing, and very obviously sponsored by the fact that it’s his birth month
So I thought, you know what, let’s humour it and let’s assume it’s true – keyword 'assume', and April-borns you can come for me next Tuesday or something.
In my assumption, it led me to weddings. Wedding playlists, wedding must-haves. Your wedding day is set out to be perfect in a lot of ways, and some people simply do not play about music. If you’re a solid daydreamer, you know the music you want to say “I do” to, the song you want to dance in to at the reception, the song you want to have your first couple dance to and, if you’re an unconventional couple, the song you want to walk down the aisle to!
So for the dreamers, today’s playlist is created to give you some inspiration. Drumrolllllls because our theme for today is “Perfect songs to get married to”.
If you notice, there’s always that one song that everybody wants, and because of that, your playlist probably has something in common with 10 others. We don’t want that!

A special day should feel special, no? So that’s the essence of this playlist. The goal here is to give you lovely songs that 90% of people won’t remember, won’t think of and is still so perfect for the occasion. If some of these songs are already in the playlist, congratulations, you’re in the 10 %
Here we go!
One less lonely Girl- Justin Bieber
Young Justin Bieber wrote and sang the hell out of a track with this goldmine. This song hit at the peak of Bieber fever and left teen girls crying, wishing, hoping, and dreaming in love. Everybody and their moms wished to be the 'One Less Lonely Girl', as during this period, Justin's team would often select fangirls at random to come on stage and be serenaded with the song by the star artiste himself. The lucky girls, would be handed flower bouquets, and get an upfront performance with Justin Bieber, holding their faces like they were precious stars in the night sky.

To many, this moment was a life changing experience, and even now, years later, ladies share their stories on social media, commenting on their experiences of dreaming and praying before every concert to be the special, lucky One less lonely girl. Growing up in this era is knowing the deep effect and impact of Bieber fever. Dare I say that right after Michael Jackson, Bieber took gold for crazy and dedicated fan mania.

So if you're wondering how this can help with your dream wedding, here's the catch. After giving so many girls months worth of dreams, making them feel truly special, On his wedding day, Justin gave his wife a perfect performance and the final experience of being HIS true One less lonely girl. It was deeply special, and I'm here to tell your partner was also sick with Bieber fever; this performance would bring sparkles to her eyes. So when the dj puts this on, give a show for your true love, get your groomsmen to fill the role of backup dancers, and create that special moment for your special person!
Ric Hassani: Gentleman

So if you’re a smooth groom and you’re not sure you can handle the energy of “One Less Lonely Girl”.
You’re just a simple man with a big heart and a smooth slide when you put in the effort. Or maybe you're a smooth man who wants a one-man show.

Well, we get you. And Ric Hassani dey for you too. All the words you may wish to express are well packaged in Ric Hassani's track, "Gentleman". This song is arguably the most gentlemanly Nigerian serenade anthem you can think of. Ric Hassani provides you with the perfect opportunity to have a smitten bride and a wowed audience! Just imagine it, you waltzing slowly towards her, her bashful on a chair, dim lights save for people's flashlights, everyone capturing the moment? Nah, you'd be giving the people a show!
That's all: Baby Rose

Iconic and breathtaking, there are merely enough adjectives to describe the sheer beauty of this track and the tingling feelings it leaves you with. This glistening slow jazz will have you slowly swaying, heart, soul, and body, on the dance floor. It's performed by the phenomenal Baby Rose, a female artist with an intriguing and rare, deep contralto. Her voice is reminiscent of the smooth and jazzy blues of the 60s. "That's all", is for the old souls who love something unique, something that shares all the love they feel through music. The song gained its popularity after being featured on the soundtrack of the 2025 rom-com, "The Materialists", directed by Celine Song. The song is well designed for you to glide through and smile across the room with an airy glow stuck in your chest, found in that smile. It's for lying on your partner's chest, a comfortable happiness you can't describe but clearly both feel.
Lover: Taylor swift

Because come on, how would Mother not be here? Taylor has written too many heartbreak songs to count, and so it leaves the love songs feeling too special. There's a whole catalogue to choose from; the classics like Paper Rings or Love Story, they just never get old. But for me, there's just something so special about "Lover," and it's a total dream for the couple's private last dance. The lyrics are also very poetic and well-written. In her Tiny Desk performance, Taylor explains one of her favourite lines in the music, which says, 'With every guitar string scar on my hand, I take this magnetic force of a man to be my lover, beautifully strung and carrying weight.' Taylor teaches a truth that stands the test of time in a successful marriage: that if someone is going to take your hand, they better take your hand scars and all. This line is truly important because it expresses that, despite being hurt, you are willing to take the deep dive and hold a hand, even with the scars from trying and failing. Lover is the song that says, 'I've walked around, and I have finally found home.'
Looking for God: Mannywellz

This song has been through a lot with social media; so maybe it’s time for it to circle back and make its way into halls?

Looking for God, is no doubt a very special one. You know when they say love finds you best when you’re not looking? Well, Mannywellz takes that feeling and elevates it in this song. The intensity of it lies in its message, a preaching of a love so pure that in your quest for God and in your journey of soul searching, you find that missing piece you never knew you need. It’s deep because it’s a love so true that he's basically saying you're a blessing I didn't even see coming.

These aren't fleeting feelings; it’s true love grounded in conviction that you have found a soul-tying connection. I mean, It’s serious enough if you've landed on the altar, but this song helps you say, my heart didn’t know it was you it needed, and it found and now it sits in ease because it’s home. So if your partner is home, look into their eyes with all the love that’s burning there and tell them. If you need this for your first dance, the speakers blasting this would create all the suave memories that will last you for a lifetime!
Aduke : Tjan

If per chance you forgot about this gem, God forbid! The fairy godmother has brought it back.

Before there were love songs, there were loveeeee songs, and Tjan was a factory for them. Though he disappeared on us after a few hits, "Aduke" remains an impressionable one. There's no better way to say it than "Aduke" is a sweet love song for the true yearners, the one that says, "Ma toju e, Ayanfe mi" (I'll take care of you, my beloved/my chosen love). Don't play, Jo! If you're looking for a sweet serenade for your beloved, the perfect song for your proposal, don't dare sleep on Aduke
On top your matter: Wizkid

Wizkid's "On top your matter" is the after party song that will tear the place down anytime. Nostalgia will keep everyone in a chokehold and it just sets the mood down. It's ball knowledge on your part and an obvious factor that the after-party will slap. No long talk; just open the floor with "II fit die on top your matter eeeeh!"! and have your crowd moving like this

Aimasiko: Simi

We all know a wedding is a success if the guests enjoy it as much as the bride and groom do. I mean it’s a party for a reason. So this song of gratitude will have your audience reminiscing on how God has come through. The song relays an age-old powerful message, “It is not knowing our time that troubles man. My life is in God’s hands." So play this song and let the drinks flow, the gongon follow – a perfect combo. Trays in the air as people bop side to side. Happy to be there. You’ve all come a long way to be where you are today. Remember, your life is in God’s hands!
That’s it for today, my fellow daydreamers! Remember, at the end of the day, what’s in your playlist is usually what carries sentimental value in your heart. So as you listen to these songs, I hope you find new songs to make memories with. Thank you for sticking around. Until next time! Ciao
