STYLES Finds a Gentle Rhythm in Love on his new single “Addicted”

STYLES is a Nigerian creative artist driven by originality, passion, and a desire to connect with listeners through music.

With an evolving sound shaped by diverse genres and influences, he explores the emotions, experiences, culture, and everyday moments that make up the human experience.

For him, every record is an opportunity to create something distinct while remaining rooted in his identity, connecting with his listeners, and leaving a lasting impression.

From Afrobeat and Afropop to other sounds and genres, STYLES makes it ahabit to ever-evolve, yet stay true to his roots and individuality.

On October 1, STYLES unveiled his new single, “Addicted,” a mellow Afrobeats record that draws inspiration from the infectious rhythms of Yoruba folk music.

Blending a contemporary sound with subtle cultural influences, he creates a rich listening experience that feels both familiar and refreshingly modern. He gives fans something casual, smooth, yet deep and touching a bit of home.

“Addicted” is gentle and effortless music. Armed with a smooth-flowing rhythm, the track gives room for STYLES to glide across the beat gently, like an intoxicating massage, soothing the ears and its laid-back production and soothing melody invite listeners into a quieter, more intimate side of love.

From its lyrics to the melody, the pace, the style, every bit of the music makes us know what it’s like to be so quietly and peacefully in love, you feel addicted.

As the music progresses—towards the center and the end—STYLES introduces another layer to its sound with the striking presence of the gángan, the Yoruba talking drum, as he praises his love interest to dance, honoring her, singing in his Yoruba language; “Iwo sa ma Jo”, urging her to keep dancing.

This is a deliberate and artistic choice as beyond its rhythmic appeal, the gángan carries cultural significance. It is traditionally used in Yoruba music to praise, honour, and communicate, the talking drum adds this distinct indigenous character to the record.

Its expressive rhythms complement STYLES’ affectionate lyrics, reinforcing the song’s message while bringing a touch of his Yoruba musical heritage into the contemporary Afrobeats sound.

With “Addicted,” STYLES offers a refreshing take on romantic Afrobeats and it is now available on all streaming platforms, to bring pleasure to your ears!
