Vhene, born Vivian Chidinma Desmond in Lagos Nigeria, is a 20 year old fast-rising female Afro-fusion singer & songwriter, known for her sultry voice and versatile songwriting.
At the young age of 9, she spent significant time helping at her older sister’s beer parlor to raise money for her family. During this period, she got consistently exposed to different sounds like Afrobeats, Highlife, Fuji, Apala, and other beautiful West African genres typically played at African bars and from then on, she developed a profound love for music. Her exposure led her to finding her special sound, a unique blend of folk and African rhythms.
On her latest single, ‘Close to you’, she sings about the desire to be close to her lover, capturing well, that feeling and deep essence of being in love.
